Welcome back to Noir Crazy, where I’m wrapping up the synopses for our next slate of twisted films noir and have sketched out some flash fiction to set the demented mood! Below is a teaser image from KISS OF DEATH. If you’re just newly subscribed, the four other noirs I’m featuring this time are:
WHITE HEAT
THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER
PITFALL
BEWARE, MY LOVELY
My next update is for my picture book of film noir illustrations, FORM OF HUMAN ENDEAVOR, which I’ve laid out and have created the cover, shown here. It will feature art from live tweet promos I’ve done since late last year, as well as the alternative movie posters I’ve created since 2020, and assorted other noir work (with the exception of NOIR CRAZY), all in one book. I’m working towards a Fall 2025 release date, and of course will update as the year progresses.
And my final update is for the newest issue of MovieJawn Spring 2025—Silence, Please, which I am providing new print artwork for, Joan Crawford’s Silent Beginnings. The issue is shipping now, and is chock full of film news and reviews all by indie writers and editors. Consider supporting a great zine by people who love movies and TV, not corporate content sludge.
If you enjoy my work on NOIR CRAZY, I’m asking for your support of creator-owned and indie publishers. NOIR CRAZY is a labor of love and all profits go into making the next issue. While I do not charge for subscriptions (I believe this newsletter should be free to all) I ask everyone to please visit my shop and consider either picking up an issue of NOIR CRAZY or merch I’ve created that helps keep the next issue of this zine on the horizon. Thank you all again for subscribing, I appreciate every one of you!
I love Night of the Hunter. Robert Mitchum always does a great job. He's such a creep in that movie. Wow, Joan Crawford sure looked different there. I've never seen pictures of such a young version. It looks like the new issue will be a dandy. Great post, Erik.
